Mosquito Suppression Programs

Arrow can service mosquitoes in three separate ways: a continuous monthly misting treatment, a one-time treatment, or a Mosquito Misting System are the three ways.

Maintenance Mosquito Backpack Misting Program – (20 mins) #

1. Inspect mosquito conducive areas, wind drift, gardens, nearby aquatic life, and other hazards.
2. Equipment needed – Backpack power or battery sprayer, adulticide, and IGR. Quick-knockdown product + IGR.
3. Inspection – Inspect the areas before starting treatment. Inspect for standing water and moisture conditions such as bird baths, ponds, ditches, dense vegetation, puddles, and clogged gutters. Offer IPM knowledge to customers on how they can help control the problem. Inspect heavily around the primary areas where people will be outside on a regular basis.
4. Treatment (Read your label) – Unless otherwise specified, treat the turf, landscaped areas, and gutters with a quick knock-down agent such as Cyzmic, Talstar, Bithor, or Cypermethrin, which also have a full residual of 1-1.5 months for mosquito control. Read label for mixture rates. Treat with a fine broadcast spray. The smaller the droplet size, the better the treatment. Direct treatment to the underside of vegetation. Low volume, low concentration of chemical, and high coverage is best. Treat up to 25-30 ft out from the foundation along with the conducive areas. Never directly spray standing water or ditches unless the product is labeled for it. Pay attention to wind drift.

Mosquito One-Time Treatments #

This is a one-time service sale. It is an easy cross-sell in the summer months. Must have a misting backpack.

1. Inspection – Inspect premises for regular service and identify if the property would be a candidate for the mosquito add-on treatment. Add to an existing service while you are there for $35 – $49.
2. Equipment – Same as maintenance mosquito program.
3. Price – $95 – $125 for a one-time treatment. Treat full area as specified in sale terms.
4. Warranty – There is no guarantee with this add-on. Expect about an 80-90% reduction in mosquito pressure.
5. Treatment – Unless otherwise specified, treat the turf, landscaped areas, and gutters with a quick knock-down agent such as Cyzmic, Talstar, Bifen, or Cypermethrin, which also have a full residual of 1-2 months for mosquito control. Add a mosquito IGR in most cases. Read label for mixture rates. Treat with a fine mist broadcast spray. Aim for the underside of the leaves.
6. Paperwork – Fill out paperwork as normal for regular service rendered. The quality and procedures of the regular treatment come before the add-on. Next, note on paperwork the charge of the mosquito service along with product info. Note down any conducive mosquito areas treated.
7. Sales tip: Set a follow-up for a 1-month phone call to see if they would like to get on a regular mosquito program.

Mosquito Misting Systems #

1. Intro – These systems are both effective and expensive. Installation usually ranges from $2,600 – $4,500. Please see the pricing card for more details. Installation is a huge task and often takes 1 day for two technicians. Maintenance services usually range from $225 – $265 per quarter. You can never get rid of all the mosquitoes. This system mists 2-3 times per day at low concentrations at set times when mosquitoes are most active. You can expect around a consistent 80-90% drop in mosquito populations in the treated zone.
2. Installation price: $1,850 + $75.00 per nozzle = installation price. This includes a 55-gallon drum system, remote control, and 1st fill-up of chemical. Nozzles are placed about every 6-12 linear ft.
3. Installation – It usually takes one full day to install a system. They are installed around the main entertainment areas on the outside of the home where people are normally outside. A nozzle is placed every 6-12 ft. A good place with power and water needs to be identified for the unit. Every installation and sale are different. Please consult with a manager and installation manual for installation procedures and equipment needed. Do not place nozzles near aquatic sources.
4. Maintenance services – After installation, our company goes back every other month or quarterly to service the system, replace chemicals, and inspect it for pressure and leaks. Confirm proper chemical mixture rates, agitation, pressure, and leaks, and communicate that to the customer and on the paperwork.

Chemicals – Eco-friendly chemicals may be used in sensitive areas and areas over water. Added charge of $35 per service to cover chemical cost.
