Doc Summary
Tap insulation is a cellulosed base insulation that contains boric acid. Boric acid is a green pesticide that will last forever if not removed. The client will save on energy costs as well as have no pests in the attic! We remove insulation in most of our branches. If there are rodent or wildlife droppings, it is common to remove SOME or ALL the insulation and to sanitize the attic area.
Attic Safety #
Always have adequate lighting to go around the attic and practice 3-point contact. This means having 3 of 4 limbs always touching a safe point so that you maintain your balance. Wear a dust mask or respirator while the insulation is being blown in and applied. Jobs in the summer or “hot” time need to be scheduled to START by 8am.

Arrow offers insulation vacuuming. This is a great service to offer peace of mind to the customers. Many customers that have damaged or contaminated insulation from rodents or wildlife will have their insulation removed. We will remove blown-in insulation. Pricing #
Minimum job: $1,850 dollars. (Partial jobs to remove contaminated insulation should fall around the “minimum” and contain detailed notes and a graph of which areas are to be removed.)
- 4–6-inch removal: $1.35 per sq. ft.
- 6–9-inch removal: $1.55 per sq. ft.
- 9–12-inch removal: $1.95 per sq. ft.
Pricing includes Arrow hauling away the insulation and paying any disposal fees.
Note #
After removal, TAP should be installed within the next day or two. The more we remove, the more we can charge for more TAP. A full 6–8-inch removal plus a full 12 inches of TAP added back should yield between $6,500 and $12,000 typically.
